"Every time you smile at someone, it is an action of love, a gift to that person, a beautiful thing." -- Mother Teresa. It is an honor and privilege for me to have the opportunity to help others attain that amazing smile in which they can share their happiness with others. I have seen patients start out being shy before the start of treatment, not feeling comfortable with the appearance of their teeth. This all changes at the end of treatment when they are able to smile with confidence, having doors of opportunities open up for them to achieve success.
Education and Continuing Education
I have always known that whatever career path I chose, I wanted to be able to make a positive difference in other people's lives. My decision to go to dental school was based on my own personal experience, in which my orthodontist helped to create a beautiful smile for me, giving me more confidence to achieve my goals. My formal education began at Texas Christian University where I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. Afterwards, I attended dental school at Boston Goldman School of Dentistry, receiving my Doctorate of Dental Medicine. For three years after dental school, I served in the Air Force as a general dental officer. There I received an advanced education in general dentistry which has helped me to be more knowledgeable about comprehensive dental care. Orthodontics proved to be the most interesting subject to me because it is the perfect combination of art and science. I spent three years at West Virginia University School of Dentistry to be specially trained in Orthodontics, thus attaining my Masters of Science degree.
Continuing education courses allow me to stay current on the latest orthodontic technology and trends so I am able to provide the best care possible to my patients. I am involved in numerous CE opportunities, from attending meetings put on by the American Association of Orthodontics to seminars on the most innovative treatment techniques like Invisalign® and Incognito™.
Outside the Office
A native of Arlington, TX, I currently reside in Grand Prairie with my husband of over 16 years and our two children. My hobbies include painting and drawing, especially portraits. My best artworks have been displayed at the JFK Art Gallery and in France as a part of an art exchange program.
I enjoy spending my free time with my family, traveling and going to the movies. It is also important to my family and I to be involved in our community because is a great way for us to help make a positive difference in the lives of others, even when I’m not practicing orthodontics. I have participated in programs such as Meals on Wheels, Feed the Homeless, and Paint Your Heart Out. I am an annual donor to the American Red Cross and to the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure Foundation.
